How does a pellet boiler work?

A pellet boiler automatically feeds fuel from its hopper to the burner and transfers combustion heat primarily to water.

The heated water can supply correctly designed systems including radiators, fan coils, underfloor heating, buffer tanks and compatible domestic hot-water systems.

AKTIV

AKTIV is a compact Caminetti Montegrappa pellet boiler with painted-steel construction.

It is designed to heat water for the heating system and can be combined with dedicated accessories.

350 kg auxiliary hopper for AKTIV

AKTIV can be fitted with an optional 350 kg auxiliary pellet hopper.

The system includes a dedicated auger and can be installed on either the right or left side.

The larger fuel capacity can reduce the frequency of manual pellet loading, although actual autonomy depends on heat demand and operating output.

ARTIKA self-cleaning pellet boiler

ARTIKA is the self-cleaning model in the Caminetti Montegrappa boiler range.

It is designed for water heating and includes an automatic cleaning system and ash compactor.

ARTIKA 24, 27 and 32 kW

The Matteoda configuration is available in:

• 24 kW;
• 27 kW;
• 32 kW.

The correct boiler output should be selected according to actual building heat demand and hydraulic-system requirements.

Italian 5-Star environmental rating

ARTIKA carries an Italian 5-Star environmental rating under D.M. 186/2017.

Environmental rating and energy class are separate performance indicators.

Automatic cleaning

ARTIKA's automated cleaning system is designed to reduce the frequency of routine manual cleaning.

It does not eliminate the need for scheduled inspection, maintenance and cleaning according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Ash compactor

ARTIKA also includes an ash compactor designed to manage combustion residues and reduce their volume within the collection system.

66 kg pellet hopper

ARTIKA uses a 66 kg pellet hopper.

Actual autonomy depends on operating output, building heat demand and pellet consumption.

Hydraulic accessories

Depending on the required configuration, ARTIKA can be combined with options such as:

• domestic hot-water kit;
• primary/secondary hydraulic-circuit separation kit;
• Wi-Fi module;

Pellet boiler or hydro pellet stove?

A pellet boiler is primarily a technical heating-system generator designed to heat water.

A hydro pellet stove also transfers heat to water but is normally installed in a living space and releases part of its heat directly into the room.

Choosing the correct boiler output

Boiler output should be sized according to actual building heat losses rather than floor area alone.

Consider insulation, climate zone, radiators, system temperatures, buffer storage, domestic hot-water demand and any additional heat generators.

Buffer tank

A buffer tank may be required or useful depending on boiler size and hydraulic-system design.

Its capacity should be established by the heating-system designer or installer.

Domestic hot water

A pellet boiler can form part of a system designed to produce domestic hot water, but this function must be correctly configured.
