Caminetti Montegrappa hydro wood-burning stoves are designed to heat both water for a compatible central-heating system and the room in which the appliance is installed.

The current range includes NOIR M, TILE M, BOMA M, ALPINA M and GASSA M, using a shared hydro platform combined with different shapes, materials and finishes.

These appliances can transfer a significant proportion of their heat output to water for compatible radiators or hydronic heating systems while also releasing part of the heat directly into the installation room.

How does a hydro wood stove work?

A hydro wood stove transfers heat from log combustion to water circulating through the appliance heat exchanger.

The heated water can form part of a correctly designed system supplying compatible:

• radiators;
• fan coils;
• underfloor heating;
• buffer tanks;
• other hydronic components.

13.5 kW nominal output

The main MLW22V models use a nominal output of 13.5 kW.

The output is approximately divided into:

• 10.1 kW to water;
• 3.4 kW to the room;
• 13.5 kW total nominal output.

Why water output matters

Water output determines how much heat can be transferred to the central-heating circuit.

Room heat output

A hydro stove also releases part of its heat directly into the installation room.

For the 13.5 kW platform, approximately 3.4 kW is assigned to room heating.

Shared technical platform, different designs

The range uses a shared technical platform, allowing the appliance appearance to be selected according to the room while maintaining similar heating characteristics.

MLW22V models achieve declared efficiency levels close to 88%, with small differences depending on the exact configuration.

Italian 5-Star environmental rating

The current hydro wood-stove range carries an Italian 5-Star environmental rating under D.M. 186/2017.

Hydro wood stove or air-heating wood stove?

An air-heating stove transfers most of its useful heat directly to the room.

A hydro wood stove instead transfers a significant proportion to water and must be integrated into a compatible hydraulic heating system.

Hydro wood stove or hydro pellet stove?

A wood-burning hydro stove uses manually loaded logs, while a pellet hydro stove uses automatic pellet feeding and electronic control.

Both can supply water heating, but their operating characteristics are very different.

Buffer tank
