Thermorossi Hydro Pellet Fireplaces

Thermorossi hydro pellet fireplaces combine a built-in fireplace design with the ability to heat water for a compatible central-heating system.

The current range includes Insert Line Idra EVO6 and the higher-output Insert Idra Maxi EVO6, both featuring Thermorossi technologies including the patented PelletPower® burner and Thermocore® vertical heat exchanger.

Unlike conventional air-heating pellet inserts, these hydro fireplaces transfer most of their useful output to water, with only a smaller proportion released directly into the installation room.

How does a hydro pellet fireplace work?

Pellet is automatically fed to the burner and combustion heat is transferred mainly to water through the integrated heat exchanger.

The heated water can supply correctly designed radiator, fan-coil, radiant-heating and thermal-storage systems.

Insert Line Idra EVO6

Insert Line Idra EVO6 is the more compact hydro fireplace in the current range.

Main specifications include:

• 1.6 - 2.1 kW radiant room output;
• up to 95% efficiency;

Insert Idra Maxi EVO6

PelletPower®

Both models use the patented PelletPower® motorised burner.

The system automatically moves combustion residues away from the burner air openings to help maintain the intended operating conditions.

It does not remove the requirement for scheduled appliance cleaning and maintenance.

Thermocore®

The Thermocore® vertical tubular heat exchanger transfers a significant proportion of combustion heat to the hydraulic circuit.

This is one of the main technical differences between an Idra hydro fireplace and an air-heating pellet insert.

Integrated hydraulic equipment

Both appliances include:

• system circulation pump;
• expansion vessel;
• over-pressure valve;
• safety thermostat;
• electronic control.

Integrated equipment does not replace correct hydraulic-system design.

Domestic hot water

A Thermorossi Idra fireplace primarily heats technical water for the heating circuit.

Domestic hot-water production requires a suitable hydraulic configuration, normally involving a cylinder, storage system or heat exchanger.

It should not be assumed to be a direct standard function of the appliance.

Hydro fireplace or air-heating pellet insert?

Thermorossi ESPRIT inserts heat air and can be ducted towards additional rooms.

Insert Line Idra EVO6 and Insert Idra Maxi EVO6 instead transfer most of their useful output to water and do not use the warm-air ducting system specified for the current ESPRIT range.

Hydro pellet fireplace or hydro pellet stove?

Both can heat a hydraulic circuit.

A hydro fireplace is designed for integration into a dedicated surround, while a hydro pellet stove is a finished freestanding appliance with its own exterior cladding.

Dimensions

Italian 5-Star environmental rating

Both current Thermorossi hydro pellet fireplaces carry an Italian 5-Star environmental rating under D.M. 186/2017.

Italian Conto Termico 3.0

Thermorossi publishes current Conto Termico 3.0 documentation for both models.

Actual incentive eligibility depends on the complete replacement project and applicable technical and administrative requirements.

Flue and chimney system

Insert Line Idra EVO6 uses an 80 mm flue outlet, while Insert Idra Maxi EVO6 uses a 100 mm flue outlet.

The complete chimney must nevertheless be sized according to appliance output, chimney height, route, bends, operating pressure, flue temperature and installation conditions.
