Stoves and fireplaces

Stoves, fireplaces and heating systems are one of Matteoda's main areas of specialisation in domestic heating.

The range includes pellet stoves, wood-burning stoves, wood cookers, fireplaces, inserts, hydro stoves, hydro fireplaces and biomass boilers, together with thermal storage systems, accessories and complementary heating products.

The correct appliance should be selected according to the heat demand of the building, fuel type, number of rooms to be heated, heat-distribution system and chimney characteristics.

Matteoda offers products from leading heating brands together with specialist support. Some products can be purchased directly online, while other models and configurations are supplied to order or through a personalised quotation.

Please contact Matteoda customer service for specific configurations, delivery times or technical product information.

Which heating system should you choose?

Wood-burning stoveTraditional log combustionFor manually managed wood heating
Hybrid wood/pellet stoveTwo fuels in one applianceFor greater flexibility in fuel choice
Wood cookerHeating, cooking plate and ovenFor heating and traditional wood-fired cooking
Fireplace or insertFirebox integrated into a surround or existing fireplaceFor new fireplace projects or refurbishment
Hydro stove or hydro fireplaceWater heatingFor compatible radiator and hydronic heating systems
Biomass boilerCentral heatingFor whole-building heating systems

Pellet stoves

Pellet stoves use automatic fuel feeding and electronic combustion control.

The range includes fan-assisted, ductable, slim, sealed and hydro models, with Wi-Fi or remote-control systems on selected appliances.

Wood-burning stoves

Wood-burning stoves are available in traditional and contemporary designs, with different outputs, materials and heat-distribution systems.

Correct selection should consider room volume, building insulation and chimney characteristics as well as nominal heat output.

Hybrid wood and pellet stoves

Hybrid appliances combine log and pellet operation in the same heating product.

The exact operating logic and transition between fuels depend on the individual appliance.

Wood-burning cookers

Wood-burning cookers combine domestic heating with a cooking plate and integrated oven.

Different models are designed for freestanding or built-in kitchen installations.

Fireplaces and inserts

The range includes fireplaces, fireboxes and inserts for wood or pellet combustion.

Fireboxes are generally used for new custom fireplace installations, while inserts can be used to refurbish compatible existing fireplaces.

Hydro stoves and fireplaces

Hydro appliances transfer a significant proportion of their heat output to water for compatible central-heating systems.

Correct sizing should consider water output, room output, heat demand and hydraulic-system configuration.

Biomass boilers

Biomass boilers are designed primarily for whole-building central heating.

They must be sized according to the actual heating demand of the building and heating system.

Pellet or wood?

Pellet appliances offer automatic fuel feeding, electronic control and programmable operation, while wood-burning products use manually loaded logs and provide a more traditional operating experience.

Choosing the correct heat output

Heat output should not be selected according to floor area alone.

Factors to consider include:

  • room volume;
  • thermal insulation;
  • climate zone;
  • ceiling height;
  • windows and external walls;
  • required indoor temperature;
  • other heating systems.

Heating one room or several rooms?

An air-heating stove may be sufficient when the main goal is to heat the installation room.

A ductable stove can distribute warm air to additional rooms, while hydro appliances can feed compatible radiator or underfloor heating systems.

Environmental certification and EcoDesign

Biomass appliances carry different environmental classifications, energy ratings and EcoDesign performance levels depending on the individual product.

These parameters should be checked separately rather than treated as equivalent.

Financial incentives

Some biomass appliances may qualify for Italian heating incentives when the appliance and installation meet all applicable requirements.

Eligibility is not automatic with the purchase of the product.

Flue and chimney systems

The chimney system must be considered together with the heating appliance.

Diameter, height, route, insulation and number of bends can all affect correct operation.

Thermal storage systems

Hydronic heating installations may require or benefit from buffer tanks and thermal storage systems, depending on the appliance and heating-system design.

Heating brands

Matteoda works with specialist heating brands including:

  • Thermorossi;
  • Caminetti Montegrappa;
  • Moretti Design;
  • Jolly Mec;
  • CADEL;
  • Palazzetti;
  • LINCAR;

  • other specialist manufacturers.

Matteoda heating advice

Choosing a biomass appliance often requires more than simply comparing price and nominal output.

Matteoda customer service can help evaluate fuel type, output, heat distribution, chimney compatibility, environmental certification, accessories and delivery requirements.
