Thermorossi Hydro Pellet Stoves

Thermorossi hydro pellet stoves are designed to transfer a significant proportion of pellet combustion heat to water for a compatible central-heating system, while releasing a smaller proportion directly into the installation room.

The range includes Moma Idra, Chic Idra, Dorica Idra, Creo Idra, Essenza Idra, Lienz Idra, Saint Moritz Idra, Supreme Idra and SlimQuadro Idra models with different outputs, dimensions and finishes.

Depending on the model, current Thermorossi hydro stoves use technologies including the patented PelletPower® burner, Thermocore® heat exchangers and integrated hydraulic components.

How does a hydro pellet stove work?

A hydro pellet stove automatically feeds pellet to the burner and transfers most of the useful heat to water through an integrated heat exchanger.

The heated water can supply correctly designed systems including radiators, fan coils, underfloor heating and thermal storage.

Total output and water output

When comparing hydro pellet stoves, always distinguish between:

• total rated output;
• output transferred to water;
• heat released directly into the room.

Water output is one of the most important values when matching the stove to the heating system.

Thermorossi Idra range

The current range includes Moma, Chic, Dorica, Creo, Essenza, Lienz and Saint Moritz Idra families together with Supreme Idra and SlimQuadro Idra models.

PelletPower®

PelletPower® is Thermorossi's patented motorised burner technology used on many current Idra models.

The system is designed to move combustion residues away from the burner and into the ash drawer.

Advanced Cleaning versions use an Incoloy 800HT construction and can be inspected and removed according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Thermocore®

Thermocore® is used on selected Thermorossi hydro stoves as part of the heat-exchange system.

Dorica Idra 14

Dorica Idra 14 is an example of a lower-output Thermorossi hydro stove.

Creo Supreme Idra

Creo Supreme Idra reaches 22.5 kW maximum rated output, including up to 19.6 kW transferred to water.

Thermorossi also declares up to 95.2% efficiency, a 30 kg pellet hopper, PelletPower® and integrated hydraulic components.

SlimQuadro Idra EVO6

SlimQuadro Idra EVO6 combines hydro heating with a particularly shallow body approximately 319 mm deep.

The current version reaches 13 kW rated output with up to 11.8 kW to water.

It uses PelletPower®, Thermocore®, an 18 kg hopper and integrated hydraulic components.

SlimQuadro Idra Maxi EVO6

SlimQuadro Idra Maxi EVO6 increases rated output to approximately 21.3 kW while retaining the reduced-depth SlimQuadro design.

Integrated hydraulic components

Depending on the platform, Thermorossi Idra models may include:

• circulation pump;
• expansion vessel;
• pressure safety valve;
• temperature sensors;
• electronic heating-system controls.

Domestic hot water

A hydro pellet stove primarily heats technical water for the heating circuit.

Domestic hot-water production requires a suitable system configuration and may involve a storage cylinder, heat exchanger or dedicated hydraulic components.

It should not be assumed to be an automatic standard function of every hydro stove.

Hydro pellet stove or air-heating pellet stove?

An air-heating pellet stove transfers most of its useful heat directly into the rooms.

A hydro pellet stove instead transfers most of its useful output to the water circuit and must therefore be connected to a compatible hydraulic system.

Choosing the correct output

Selection should be based mainly on the heating-system requirement rather than floor area alone.

Consider building heat demand, radiator output, water temperature, system volume, thermal storage and direct room heat.

The Thermorossi Idra range includes many current 5-Star hydro pellet stoves.

Thermorossi publishes current Conto Termico 3.0 documentation for many current Idra models.

Actual eligibility depends on the complete replacement project and is not automatic with product purchase.

Flue and chimney system

A hydro pellet stove requires a correctly designed flue and chimney system.

Flue outlet diameter, chimney height, draught, pressure, bends, insulation and combustion-air requirements must all be evaluated.
