De Marinis COPALU 30 mm mineral wool flue insulation pipe section

The De Marinis COPALU insulation pipe section is made from mineral wool with an external aluminium facing and is designed for the thermal insulation of chimneys and flue pipes.

Its 30 mm insulation thickness helps reduce heat loss from the flue and maintain a more stable flue-gas temperature when used within a correctly designed chimney system.

COPALU is specified with heat resistance up to 700°C and is available in nominal diameters from Ø80 to Ø300 mm.

The product is supplied per linear metre.

What flue insulation is used for

Insulating a flue helps reduce heat loss to the surrounding environment and maintain a more stable temperature of the combustion products.

Correct insulation can help:

• reduce thermal losses;
• maintain flue-gas temperature;
• reduce cooling of the flue;
• limit conditions that favour condensation;
• improve the thermal behaviour of the chimney system.

Aluminium-faced mineral wool

COPALU uses mineral wool as the thermal insulation material and an external aluminium facing.

The facing helps contain and protect the fibrous material and facilitates installation around the flue.

30 mm insulation thickness

The COPALU pipe section has a nominal 30 mm insulation thickness.

As a preliminary geometric indication, 30 mm of insulation around the flue increases the overall diameter by approximately 60 mm, before allowing for external coverings, tolerances or other construction elements.

Heat resistance up to 700°C

COPALU is specified with heat resistance up to 700°C.

This value refers to the thermal characteristics of the insulation material and does not automatically determine the certified operating temperature or combustible clearance of the complete chimney system.

Important: adding insulation does not automatically modify the certification or combustible-clearance classification of the flue system. The complete installation must comply with the chimney manufacturer's instructions and applicable regulations.

How to select the correct diameter

The COPALU diameter must be selected according to the actual external diameter of the flue pipe to be insulated.

For twin-wall chimney systems, the commercial nominal diameter may refer to the internal flue diameter; therefore the actual external diameter must be checked before selecting the insulation section.

Supply per linear metre

COPALU is sold per linear metre. Order quantity should therefore be calculated according to the total length of flue to be insulated.

Installation

The insulation should be installed evenly around the flue, avoiding gaps and ensuring that the external facing is correctly positioned.

Its use must be compatible with the flue operating temperature, installation conditions and complete chimney design.

For chimney systems installed close to combustible materials, within shafts or through walls and floors, always follow the certification and installation requirements of the complete flue system.
