REQA thermal storage and biomass systems
The REQA range selected by Matteoda.it focuses mainly on thermal storage and wood-fired central-heating boilers.
REQA buffer tanks
A buffer tank stores technical heating water and allows thermal energy to be accumulated when heat production exceeds the immediate demand of the building.
Depending on the configuration, REQA thermal stores can be integrated with biomass boilers, heat pumps, solar thermal systems and hybrid installations.
CLESS stratified thermal storage
CLESS is REQA's thermal-storage technology designed to promote temperature stratification inside the buffer tank.
Internal compensation chambers manage water flows with the aim of limiting unnecessary mixing between hotter and cooler layers.
Why thermal stratification matters
In a stratified store, hotter water remains primarily in the upper part of the tank while cooler water occupies the lower levels.
This allows different temperature levels to be used according to the requirements of the connected heating circuits.
CLESS insulation
REQA specifies 100 mm polyester-fibre insulation for the CLESS range, designed to reduce thermal losses from the storage tank.
REQA multi-energy thermal stores
Selected REQA stores are designed for multi-energy systems combining different heat sources such as biomass, heat pumps and solar thermal.
PUFF range
The REQA PUFF family includes different configurations:
- PUFF 1S: technical-water storage without an internal coil;
- PUFF 2S: storage with one integrated heat exchanger;
- PUFF 3S: heating storage with dedicated heat exchangers and instantaneous DHW production according to configuration.
REQA domestic hot-water cylinders
DHW cylinders must be distinguished from technical-water buffer tanks.
The exact product should be selected according to storage capacity, heat-exchanger surface, construction, operating temperature and pressure, heat-generator compatibility and any solar integration.

Removable heat-exchanger coils
Selected REQA thermal-storage families use removable heat-exchanger coils, allowing the exchanger to be serviced or replaced without replacing the complete storage tank.
This feature must be checked on the exact product family.
REQA LAMBDA wood-gasification boilers
REQA's LCG LAMBDA range consists of wood-gasification boilers for water-based central-heating systems.
REQA specifies efficiency of up to 95% for the range, subject to the exact model and certified operating condition.
Wood gasification
Wood-gasification boilers operate through a controlled multi-stage combustion process in which gases released from the wood are burned in a dedicated secondary combustion zone.
Lambda control
An integrated Lambda sensor automatically regulates primary and secondary combustion air according to operating conditions.
Logs up to 600 mm
REQA specifies a large loading chamber designed for logs up to 600 mm.
Automatic assisted ignition
LCG LAMBDA features an automatic assisted ignition system using a ceramic heating element and pellet support.
The pellets assist ignition of the wood and should not be interpreted as normal dual-fuel operation.
Designed to operate with thermal storage
REQA specifies that LAMBDA wood boilers are designed to operate with an inertia buffer tank.
The boiler and correctly sized thermal store should therefore be considered as parts of the same heating system.
Choosing the buffer-tank capacity
Storage capacity should be calculated according to boiler output, loading-chamber capacity, building heat demand, system temperatures, terminal units and applicable technical requirements.
Multi-generator systems
REQA thermal stores can be used in correctly designed systems combining biomass boilers, heat pumps, solar thermal and other compatible heat sources.
Italian Conto Termico 3.0
Thermal storage and biomass generators can be relevant to projects covered by Italian Conto Termico 3.0.
