The De Marinis DESIGN SDRCR reducing adapter is a component of the DESIGN flue system designed to reduce the diameter of the connecting flue by joining a larger pipe section to a smaller one.
It features a female-male configuration: the male side corresponds to the larger Øn1 diameter, while the female side corresponds to the smaller Øn2 diameter.
The fitting is manufactured from 2 mm carbon steel with a matt black high-temperature finish and is intended for indoor flue connections used with wood-burning stoves, fireplaces and biomass appliances.
The range includes several reducing combinations between Ø200 and Ø120 mm, allowing the adapter to be selected according to the specific installation.
The SDRCR is used where it is necessary to change from a larger flue diameter to a smaller diameter.
For example, it may be used where a larger flue section needs to connect to a smaller appliance connection or subsequent component.
Reducing the flue diameter changes the available cross-section for combustion products and should therefore be assessed according to the appliance characteristics, system design and manufacturer's instructions.
Before ordering, both diameters must be checked carefully: Øn1 identifies the larger male-side diameter, while Øn2 identifies the smaller female-side diameter.
On the SDRCR adapter, the male end corresponds to the larger diameter, while the female end corresponds to the smaller diameter.
For example, an SDRCR150-120 has a Ø150 mm male side and a Ø120 mm female side.
This distinction is important because the connection direction determines the actual function of the adapter and should not be confused with the SDRCA increasing adapter.

The SDRCR is a reducing adapter: it changes from a larger diameter to a smaller diameter.
The SDRCA performs the opposite function and is used as an increasing adapter.
For this reason, both nominal diameters and the male/female connection direction should always be checked before ordering.
