What the DESIGN SDRS cover plate is used for

The SDRS is used to conceal the edge of the opening through which the flue pipe passes, providing a cleaner and more professional finish.

It is particularly useful where a flue pipe passes through an internal wall and the opening is larger than the external diameter of the pipe.

The cover plate is installed around the outside of the pipe and does not form part of the flue gas path.

Before ordering, select the diameter matching the flue pipe used in the installation.

Flat profile and installation finish

The main characteristic of the SDRS is its flat geometry, providing a discreet finish with less projection than a domed cover plate.

Its large external diameter provides effective coverage around the pipe opening, while the matt black finish maintains visual continuity with the DESIGN flue components.

Important: the SDRS is a finishing accessory. It does not replace any certified wall penetration, protection or insulation system required by the installation and must not be used to reduce prescribed safety clearances.

Difference between SDRS and SDRSB

The SDRS is a flat cover plate, while the SDRSB version has a domed profile.

The choice between the two versions mainly depends on the required appearance, opening size and geometry of the flue pipe penetration.

In both cases, the selected cover plate must match the nominal diameter of the flue pipe.

Compatibility with the DESIGN system

The SDRS is designed for use with De Marinis DESIGN flue pipes.

The DESIGN range is intended for indoor installations with wood-burning stoves, fireplaces and biomass appliances and uses a coordinated matt black finish throughout its visible components.

For correct dimensional compatibility, select the cover plate with the same nominal Øn diameter as the flue pipe.

Technical note: on all SDRS variants the internal diameter Øi is 8 mm larger than the nominal Øn diameter. The external diameter Øe is 108 mm larger than Øn and ranges from 228 to 308 mm. Always refer to the technical drawing included on the product page.

How to read the technical drawing

Comparing the flue pipe diameter, Øi internal diameter and Øe external diameter helps verify both compatibility with the pipe and the effective coverage available around the wall opening.

Installation

The SDRS cover plate is positioned around the flue pipe at the point where it passes through the wall or surface to be finished.

It should sit correctly against the supporting surface without interfering with the joints between flue components.

Any fixing system used must be suitable for the materials and temperatures present in the installation area. The cover plate must not be used to support the flue pipe or to alter the safety clearances required by the flue system.
