De Marinis DESIGN SDRTM modular telescopic cover plate for stove pipe

The De Marinis DESIGN SDRTM modular telescopic cover plate is an accessory designed to finish flue pipe penetrations through walls and ceilings in installations for wood-burning stoves, fireplaces and biomass appliances.

Its telescopic modular construction allows the cover plate to adapt to the geometry of the penetration even where the pipe does not pass through the surface at a standard angle.

The SDRTM can be used for wall and ceiling penetrations at angles other than 0° or 45°, providing greater installation flexibility than cover plates designed for a fixed penetration geometry.

It is manufactured from 2 mm carbon steel with a matt black high-temperature finish matching the pipes and accessories of the De Marinis DESIGN range.

The cover plate is secured using fixing plugs and is supplied with felt. It is available in nominal diameters Ø 120, 130, 140, 150, 160, 180 and 200 mm.

What the DESIGN SDRTM cover plate is used for

The SDRTM is used where a connecting flue passes through a wall or ceiling and the penetration geometry requires a more adaptable solution than a conventional cover plate.

Its modular configuration allows the component to follow the orientation of the pipe and provide a neat finish around the penetration.

It is particularly useful where the flue pipe passes through the surface at an angle other than the conventional 0° or 45° configurations.

The component fits around the outside of the pipe and does not form part of the direct flue gas path.

Modular telescopic construction

The distinctive feature of the SDRTM is the combination of a telescopic structure with a modular configuration.

This allows the cover plate to adapt to the penetration area without being restricted to a single predefined pipe angle.

De Marinis specifies a height of H = 290 mm for all available nominal diameters.

This greater geometric flexibility distinguishes the SDRTM from the SDRT and SDRT45E models, which are designed respectively for conventional and specific 45° penetration configurations.

Important: the SDRTM is a finishing accessory. It does not replace any certified penetration, insulation or protection system required where combustible materials are present and must not be used to reduce prescribed safety clearances.

Different penetration angles

One of the main advantages of the SDRTM is its ability to accommodate a flue pipe passing through the supporting surface at angles other than 0° or 45°.

This can be useful where the position of the appliance, chimney connection or room geometry requires a non-standard inclined flue route.

The modular configuration therefore provides a more adaptable finish around the actual pipe penetration.

Fixing plugs and felt

The SDRTM modular telescopic cover plate is secured to the wall or ceiling using fixing plugs suitable for the supporting material.

The component is also supplied with felt, according to its intended configuration.

The fixing system must keep the cover plate stable without placing improper mechanical loads on the flue pipe or interfering with adjacent component joints.

Difference between SDRTM, SDRT and SDRT45E

The SDRT is a telescopic cover plate intended for conventional wall and ceiling penetrations.

The SDRT45E is specifically configured for 45° inclined penetrations.

The SDRTM is a modular telescopic cover plate offering greater adaptability and allowing installation at penetration angles other than 0° or 45°.

The correct model should therefore be selected according to the pipe diameter, penetration angle and geometry of the supporting surface.

Compatibility with the DESIGN system

The SDRTM is designed for use with De Marinis DESIGN flue pipes.

The DESIGN range is manufactured from 2 mm carbon steel with a matt black high-temperature finish and is intended mainly for indoor installations with wood-burning stoves, fireplaces and biomass appliances.

For correct dimensional compatibility, select the cover plate with the same nominal Øn diameter as the flue pipe.

Øn indicates the nominal pipe diameter, H the height of the modular telescopic cover plate and Ød the external diameter specified in the De Marinis technical data.

Technical note: all SDRTM variants have height H = 290 mm. External diameter Ød ranges from 234 mm for Ø120 to 314 mm for Ø200 and is 114 mm larger than the nominal Øn diameter. Always refer to the technical drawing included on the product page.

Installation

The SDRTM is positioned around the flue pipe where it passes through the wall or ceiling and configured according to the actual penetration angle.

It is secured using fixing plugs suitable for the supporting material. The supplied felt should be retained according to the intended product configuration.

The cover plate must not interfere with flue pipe joints and must not be used as a structural support for the connecting flue.

Installation must be carried out by qualified personnel in accordance with De Marinis instructions, appliance requirements and applicable technical regulations.
