90° De Marinis DESIGN SDC9I wood stove elbow with inspection access

The De Marinis DESIGN SDC9I 90° elbow is a component of the DESIGN flue system designed to create a 90-degree change of direction in the flue connection of wood-burning stoves, fireplaces and biomass appliances.

Unlike the standard SDC9 elbow, the SDC9I features an inspection opening that provides easier access to the inside of the fitting during periodic inspection and cleaning of the connecting flue.

It is manufactured from 2 mm carbon steel with a matt black high-temperature finish. Its robust construction and clean appearance make the DESIGN range particularly suitable for visible indoor installations.

The elbow is available in nominal diameters Ø 120, 130, 140, 150, 160, 180 and 200 mm.

What the DESIGN SDC9I elbow is used for

The SDC9I elbow is used where a 90-degree change of direction is required while also providing an accessible inspection and cleaning point in the connecting flue.

It can be used, for example, to connect a vertical section to a horizontal section or to reach a chimney inlet that is not aligned with the appliance flue outlet.

The inspection opening facilitates maintenance by providing access to the inside of the elbow without necessarily dismantling the flue connection.

Before purchasing, select the correct diameter and check that it matches the appliance flue outlet and all other components used in the installation.

Inspection and cleaning access

The distinguishing feature of the SDC9I is its dedicated inspection access.

Soot and combustion residues can accumulate inside a wood-burning stove flue connection, particularly around changes of direction.

An accessible inspection point facilitates periodic checks and cleaning operations required as part of correct flue system maintenance.

Important: the inspection opening must be correctly closed before operating the appliance. Inspection, cleaning and maintenance of the flue system must be carried out in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and applicable requirements.

90° elbow and flue configuration

Every change of direction alters the route of combustion products and may affect the draught characteristics of the flue system.

The number and position of elbows, horizontal sections and overall length of the connecting flue should therefore be assessed according to the characteristics of the appliance and chimney.
